Calgary Tire Shop is offering  quality custom powder coating

Powder Coating is new and advanced method of applying a decorative and protective finish to any metal surface including alloy rims. The rims will look much better and last much longer after coating. It is also eco-friendly and clean method of refinishing wheels. Powder coated rims become more resistant to everyday wearing, chipping, scratching, fading and the color stay bright .

In our shop we are using high quality German powder and German equipment. Because of their high-quality standards, we are able to give 1 year warranty for the coating.

Our full service, that comes with warranty, includes sandblasting of the rims, removing all scratches, dings, curb rush, rust etc, minor welding if required, powder coating and clear coating if required. Can also do bend and crack repairing for additional cost.

Price is starting from $500 per set of 4, and up depends on the size of the rims, quantity of spokes, color you choose, if the rims come with tires or without, if they are on the car or off the car and some other parameters that we will be talking about below. Some colors are more expensive because the powder is more expensive and/or it required more time and labor to apply them. Currently, the less expensive colors is gloss black or metallic black.

Demounting, mounting and balancing of the tires also available (including run flat tires) as well as possibility to leave your vehicle here while your wheels are getting powder coated. If you bring the rims with tires, for extra $120 to $250 (depends on the size, type and profile of the tires) we will demount tires from the rims, and after rims are done, we will mount the tires back and balance them with stick on (adhesive) weights. If your tires are run flat / reinforced / zero pressure or similar, the price will be higher.

In low season (winter and summer) the set of rims will be ready in 3 to 5 business days, in high season (usually October, November and April and might be around those months, depends on the weather) the turn around time might be up to 3 weeks.

For extra $250 you also can bring your car and leave it here while we are working on your wheels. For the rims on the car the turnaround time is 24 to 48 hours.

Please note, we are checking all rims on the balancer for any structural damages prior sending them for sandblasting. Than we advise to the customer if the rims need to be repaired, unbent etc. If the customer left the car and can not wait for the results, we will contact you via email with all information and you must confirm in the email that you are agree to fix the structural damage before powder coating. If we do not have email with confirmation, we will not fix the rims and get them powder coated on top of the damage.

If your rims have TPMS (tire pressure sensors) we have to remove them in order to get the rims powder coated. If the rims are older than 2 years old and have aluminum valve stems with sensors, they become rusted and it might be not possible to remove them without breaking them. In this case the full sensor has to be change. Or you can remove them yourself prior to bringing the rims. If the sensors have rubber valve stems, it is much easier to remove them, but we still highly recommend to change rubber valve stems after rims are done. In our shop it will cost $20 for set of 4 sensor's valves changed on the loose rims.

Refinishing of the center caps is extra. Some caps do not need to be refinished at all.  Some customers prefer to buy new center caps or just new stickers for the center caps (we are selling caps and stickers for certain models). Depends on the type of the center caps,  we might be able to refinish them or might be not. For example, we are not restoring chrome center caps even if they are in bad shape. If the caps are possible to refinish and you would like to do it, it's extra $75 to refinish set of 4 center caps. We might use powder coating or regular paint depends on the material of the caps.

If the rims were previously plasti-dipped, we take extra $100 to remove the plasti-dip first, or you can remove it yourself prior bringing the rims to our shop.

If the rims were previously powder coated, refinished, repainted or have more than 3 layers of paint on them, it will be extra charge to remove them. The more layers of paint on the rims, the harder to remove them as it required more sand, time and labor. When you will bring the rims to our shop for exact estimate, we measure the thickness of the paint on the rims with special tool. If the thickness on your rims is  0.15mm or less, it will be no extra charge. If the thickness of the paint is 0.20mm to 0.40mm, it will be extra $100 for sandblasting. If the thickness of the paint is 0.40mm to 0.50mm, it will be extra $150 for sandblasting. If the thickness is more than 0.50mm, it will be extra $200 for sandblasting. If the rims have thickness more than 1mm, we may refuse to do them at all.

You always can consider to sandblast rims in different place and then bring them to us for powder coating and fixing only. The rims have to be sandblasted with sand 50-80 grits, otherwise the surface will be too rough and will required polishing which will cost from $20 to $100 per rim. Or we can apply the powder AS IS but the powder coated rim will have rough surface as well. If you have already sandblasted rims, the price is starting from $300 per set. Those rims will be ready in 24 hours.

If the rims have rivets on them (rivets look like decorative bolts usually on the edge of the after-market rim), it will be extra $100 for working with them. We will remove the rivets and reinstall them when the rims will be done. Depends on the quality and age of the rims, rivets might brake down during removing, than you have to buy new to replace them (we do not sell them). OR, You also can remove the rivets and reinstall them yourself after the rims are done. The rivets might be metal or plastic. The plastic rivets must be remove prior powder coating and they might be broken during removing. The metal rivets can be powder coated together with rims (so they will be the same colour like rims) without removing - we will not charge you extra for that.

If the rims consist of two or more pieces, it is extra charge to take them apart and put together. You also can consider taking them apart yourself.

Please note, we can refuse to accept for powder coating cheap low-quality after-market rims made in China, Taiwan and Thailand.

Please note, we do not accept CHROME rims for powder coating.

We give one year limited warranty on the coating. If the powder will start to peel off or flake off during this year, you can come back to our shop and we will redo them for free. The warranty does not cover any mechanical damage to the powder like hitting the curb, scratching over hard surface, driving thought or pouring chemicals on the rims, etc as well as damage from clip on weights or damage during installation of the tires due to unprofessionalism or poor equipment. In our shop we guarantee that no one rim will be scratched or damaged during installation of the tires as we are using high end touch less tire machine.

We also can offer cheaper option for powder coating - starting from $300 for the set of 4 up to 17" rims. In this case the rims will be powder coated on top without sandblasting. It does include removing the curb rush from the edge of the rim. Limited colors available - gloss or metallic black and gunmetal dark. This job does not come with warranty. The coating might start to peeling off or chipping off after 2-3 years of using while full process powder coating will virtually last forever. This is a good option for someone selling the car, someone tight on budget or just looking to change the colors of the rims quickly. Those rims are usually ready faster as well.

Please note, Calgary Tire Shop has the right to refuse to work with rims at any moment and return them to the customer unfinished.

Please take a look at the examples of the rims powder coated by Calgary Tire Shop below and contact us with all your questions and ideas. You also can find more recent jobs at our Facebook page.

We are also selling brand new tires and can order almost any brand and size tires for you while rims are in the process of powder coating so you will pick up brand new looking rims with brand new tires. Installation on the car also available.
